🕌 About Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice), also known as Eid ul-Adha or Bakr-Eid, is one of the two major Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide by nearly 2 billion Muslims. It falls on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The holiday commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's (Abraham's) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Muslims celebrate with the Eid prayer, the ritual sacrifice of an animal (Qurbani/Udhiyah), and sharing the meat equally among family, friends, and those in need.
In 2026, Eid al-Adha is expected on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The Day of Arafat (9th Dhul Hijjah) falls the day before, when millions of Hajj pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat near Mecca.
